Cape Lookout

Cape Lookout Cape Lookout was settled ca 1812 and many mariners referred to it as "Horrible Headland". The first Light House was built having an inner tower built of brick with an outer shell constructed of wood. This structure was replaced in 1859 with the current Light House. During the War Between the States, the Confederates damaged the Fresnel lens.
